Plans of Safe Care
A Plan of Safe Care is a plan to address the needs of infants exposed to substances and their caregivers by offering services to families impacted by substance use during and following pregnancy. The PoSC is developed to focus on the infant’s ongoing health, development, safety, and well-being. A complete PoSC document will list and direct referrals for services and supports to provide for the safety and well-being of an infant
prenatally substance exposed.
Plans of Safe Care Toolkit
The Wyoming AAP Chapter, in partnership with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Wyoming Department of Family Services, created a toolkit to support physician-led hospital teams in complying with Wyoming's new Plans of Safe Care law.
How to Use the Toolkit
The toolkit is intended to provide care teams with detailed guidance for best practices recognizing that each facility will have to adjust based on their individual community's needs.
